Christmas is Coming, Give Your Building Some Time Off

In the run-up to Christmas, there is a multitude of items demanding our attention, and the Building Occupation times should be considered as one of them. After all, do you know what your Building Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems do as you close the door at night for the evening, the weekend or the bank holiday?

When was the last time you checked your half hourly data and compared regular consumption against weekend and bank holiday usage, even a basic profile will unearth hidden secrets and opportunities.

Your Building Management System (BMS) can be responsible for the control of HVAC systems that consume up to 60% of your building energy, and often these systems are left to run during bank holidays because simple checks are not carried out. Who reports HVAC systems running? It’s only the failures that get peoples attention!

While looking at the energy profiles for the bank holidays take a closer look at the unoccupied times of your building, does the energy consumption dip as expected or is there a delay maybe or some unknown spikes?

BMS systems have inbuilt exception times, and these can be configured to inhibit HVAC operation during specific date ranges, they are simple to set up, and the payback is significant.

There is a multitude of ways in which to save energy within a building, but time profile management is by far the easiest and has the best Return on Investment.

Unsure how to configure the Occupation Time of your building, give global associates a call, and let us start to get your building under control, after all, everyone deserves time off over Christmas, even your HVAC system.
